Days To MITC

VOLUNTEERING FOR MUSIC IN THE CASTLE

Music in the Castle (MITC) is an all-day, all-hands-on-deck music competition that our band has proudly hosted for over 70 years. A beloved local tradition, it takes place every year on the first Saturday in October—so mark your calendars!

Each year, we welcome over 30 bands, their fans, and a variety of food trucks to keep everyone fed. It’s a full day of fun, camaraderie, and spirited competition.

Bands arrive by bus, and students are guided to changing rooms where parent volunteers assist with uniforms and minor wardrobe issues. Meanwhile, other parents help direct buses and trailers to parking, check in bands through their directors, or assist in our hospitality area by serving food and drinks to band staff.

During the event, parent volunteers help move bands on and off the field, work concessions, distribute water, assist injured students, and transport instruments between practice and performance areas. Other volunteers sell tickets and programs, and deliver "fun notes" read aloud as bands take the field.

MITC is a big day made better with many helping hands. How can you pitch in? Take a look at the volunteer roles and sign up for one that suits you best.

Thank you for your support—we truly couldn’t do this without you!
